Director Houston Lutheran Chorale Jason
K. Mangels Jason K. Mangels, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Downtown. In 1995, Jason graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota where he earned a Bachelor’s of Music degree in music education. In December of 2004, he finished his Master's degree in conducting from the Moore's School of Music at The University of Houston. For eleven years Jason held different positions either serving as the Choir Director or the Director of Fine Arts and the Director of Bands at Second Baptist School. Four of those years he acted as the Interim Orchestra Director at Second Baptist Church, Woodway campus. In August 2008, Jason became the new Director of Music and Worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, Downtown. He has remained active in the Houston Area as a free lance trumpet player for weddings and churches, guest clinician and contest judge for Houston area schools, and three year resident musical director for Doin" What Matters Musical Theatre Company. In November of 2000, Jason made his debut as musical director in the first of numerous musical theater productions at Houston's Hobby and Wortham Centers. This December, Jason will be celebrating twelve years of marriage with his wonderful wife, Cheryl, who is the eighth grade teacher at Trinity Lutheran School, Downtown. Jason
and Cheryl are blessed with three children, Jessica, 6 years, Cale,
4 years, and Cord, 7 months. |
